At Kindercare, we’re here to support the needs of every child and family. That’s why we offer full time and part time care and education enrolment options. You’ll be welcomed by our dedicated Centre Director, Adrienne Rivers, and her passionate team who are here to help your child reach their full potential.

Every day, we fill this space with the fun-filled care and learning you would want for your child. Our team love what they do - and that’s cherishing your child every day, at our childcare centre. We are conveniently located for families in Wigram, Hornby, and Halswell.

From our family to yours, we look forward to welcoming you soon.

Our centre is designed to nurture your little one in each of our rooms, with focus areas like family corners, dress-ups, books, construction resources and science tables. These and other developmental activities will help your child develop skills and foundations in critical areas including sensory awareness, spatial awareness, patterns and memory. These are all essential for formal learning once they reach school age.

Guided by our Kaiako, your child will have the freedom to choose activities that interest them, and whether playing inside or outside, they will be encouraged to make discoveries, build friendships, and extend their natural curiosity about the world.

Kiwi Room (babies room)

In this warm, naturally lit room, building a strong, personal relationship with your baby is what matters most to us. Because once they’re comfortable in our safe, loving surroundings, they’ll be ready to learn through our ‘Care and Play’ curriculum.

Our low Teacher to baby ratios that allow us to provide attentive care, while partnering with you to ensure your child’s home routine is followed as closely as possible at our childcare centre. This includes your baby’s sleeping routine, which we are able to do because we’ve created a dedicated sleep area. It is here that your pēpi will enjoy a restful sleep and awaken to a reassuring cuddle.

Your baby will love exploring our sensory-rich, tactile environments - indoors and outside, which enables them to naturally become confident communicators and learners.

Our daily journals make it possible for you to keep in touch with how your baby is settling, while keeping us posted on their progress, at home.

Tūī Room (toddlers room)

We love caring for your toddler: embracing their energy, their growing need for independence, and their eagerness to learn. So, in this room, we take the time to recognise and respond to their interests and needs through our ‘Care and Play’ curriculum, then support them in developing their self-help skills.

We also understand that giving your child a sense of safety and belonging will enable them to explore and make choices. And that’s why we keep our routines flexible. With a wide range of fun-filled resources for learning; meaningful conversations for language development; and of course, plenty of cuddles to ensure your child feels cherished, our loving interactions, ongoing learning through play will happen naturally for your little one.

Pūkeko and Takahē Rooms (preschool rooms)

In these rooms, we believe in nurturing ‘the explorer’ in your child, through a wide range of play-based learning opportunities, both indoors and out. Our environments are filled with resources and equipment to challenge and encourage your child’s curiosity, at this stage of development.

Here, we understand that social and emotional skills like resilience, organisation, persistence and confidence are foundational to the development of your child’s potential, throughout their life. We foster the development of these through our fun-filled ‘You Can Do It’ program. We also introduce early literacy through our ‘Letterland’ phonics programme.

When your preschooler approaches school age, they’ll join our Transition to School Room where our programme has been developed to support your child to achieve the smoothest possible transition into primary school. Our Kaiako work with the tamariki - individually and in small groups - to explore skills and concepts essential for success in formal learning. These will include early numeracy and literacy; science; listening and speaking; and collaboration skills.

Our world of outdoor play

At our early childhood centre, we’re proud to offer an outdoor playground that is specially designed to meet the needs of your child’s age and stage of development. Here, your little one can explore using their whole body, as we focus on giving them the freedom to move and engage in active play. Outdoor play gives your child the opportunity to challenge themselves physically, make friends, and of course, have fun.
